2026 TGMAs has returned to Grand Arena after venue switch - Charterhouse confirms

After weeks of uncertainty and speculation, organisers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) have confirmed a major venue update for the 2026 edition, signalling a dramatic turnaround ahead of Ghana’s biggest music night.

From venue crisis to clarity

Earlier reports revealed that Charterhouse Productions faced serious challenges securing a venue for the 27th TGMA.

The widely used Grand Arena — the awards’ traditional home in recent years — had become unavailable due to land and renovation issues.

At one point, organisers publicly admitted they had no confirmed venue, even as the May event date drew closer, raising concerns across the entertainment industry.

Return to the Grand Arena

However, in a latest development, Charterhouse has now confirmed that the 2026 TGMAs will return to the Grand Arena, restoring the show to its familiar and iconic stage.

The Grand Arena, located within the Accra International Conference Centre, has hosted the awards since 2019 and is regarded as the most suitable venue for an event of TGMA’s scale and prestige.

Why the venue matters

The venue switch had sparked widespread debate because the TGMA is not just an awards show—it’s a cultural spectacle that demands:

  • Large audience capacity

  • High-end stage production

  • International broadcast readiness

The temporary loss of the Grand Arena threatened these standards, making the confirmation of its return a major relief for fans, stakeholders, and artistes alike.

What this means for TGMA 2026

With the venue now settled, attention shifts fully to the main event scheduled for May 9, 2026

The awards will celebrate outstanding achievements in Ghanaian music, continuing a legacy that dates back to 1999.

Industry insiders believe the return to the Grand Arena will help maintain the prestige and production quality that audiences have come to expect.
