Stonebwoy–Shatta “beef” is the most useless in Ghana music history — Ziega |
Ghana’s music industry is no stranger to rivalry, but outspoken entertainment pundit Ziega has sparked fresh debate after boldly declaring that the long-standing tension between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale is “the most useless beef in Ghana music history.”
A Rivalry That Refuses to Fade
For over a decade, the friction between Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale has dominated headlines, social media trends, and even award stages.
What started as a competitive clash for dancehall supremacy has evolved into a cycle of diss tracks, fanbase clashes, and occasional attempts at reconciliation.
The tension reached a dramatic peak during the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019, where a chaotic on-stage confrontation shocked the nation and forced industry stakeholders to intervene.
Since then, while there have been moments of calm, the rivalry continues to resurface in subtle jabs and online exchanges.
Ziega’s Blunt Verdict
According to Ziega, the beef has outlived its purpose and no longer contributes anything meaningful to Ghanaian music.
“At this point, it’s not even entertaining.
It’s repetitive, unnecessary, and adds zero value to the growth of the industry,” he argued.
Ziega emphasized that while healthy competition can push artists to elevate their craft, the Stonebwoy–Shatta Wale saga has become more about ego than artistry.
Fans Divided, Industry Fatigued
As expected, Ziega’s comments have divided fans.
Loyal supporters of both camps argue that the rivalry has produced hit songs and kept dancehall relevant in Ghana.
Others, however, agree that the constant back-and-forth has become exhausting and counterproductive.
Industry insiders have also echoed similar sentiments in recent years, calling for unity and collaboration instead of conflict—especially as Ghanaian music continues to gain global attention.
